Synopsis
Claire Danvers has a few things on her mind. First of all there is the laundry, which is now an unfortunate shade of pink. Then there is her boyfriend, Shane, who is never too far from her thoughts. Finally there is her best friend Eve’s relationship problems. As if life as a student wasn’t complicated enough, Claire just happens to be studying in Morganville. A town run by vampires. Trouble seems to follow Claire and her friends like a shadow and tonight is no exception to the rule. They must find the most difficult documents for a vampire to acquire; people passes that will allow ‘bad ass’ Morley and his friends to leave Morganville. But it’s proving incredibly difficult, and with the odds seemingly stacked against them, the biggest question of all is…Will they survive?

My Review
Still going with this series and still loving it. I had a couple of days break in reading before this one but that didn't do anything to dampen my enthusiasm and once again as soon as I picked it up I was stuck into it. This is a Morganville book with a difference, as in this one Shane, Michael, Eve and Claire, oh and Oliver joins the party - leave Morganville. This could be potentially problematic, Taking the characters out of the setting we have come to know and love is risky, but my goodness does Caine pull it off. She manages to carry the Morganville essence with them and really does show that she has created such awesome characters that they can still be true to themselves wherever they go.
It also helps to keep the series a bit fresher I think, introducing a new setting and seeing the characters react to the 'real world', I suppose you could say. In Morngaville they are very much bubbled in and kept away from anything outside, so once they are released into the big world it comes as a bit of a shock for some of them.
And then things get really interesting when they come across a small town packed with their own problem and of course the group get stuck in the middle. I'm not going to give anything away as to what goes on there, but I liked the twist.
I swear these books just keep getting better and better. What a great way to start the year.
