My Review
Onto book 9 and there is trouble brewing in Morganville, this time it's more of an invisible threat and only Claire can solve the problem, but with the whole town against her, it's almost impossible to fix.
When the computer security system went down everyone knew there would be trouble - no control or boundaries, people able to leave and do what they want, but in reality they would have been easy problems. When Claire gets into trouble she is forced to fix the computer - quickly. What results is a machine that starts to randomly wipe the minds of Morganville residents, people forget who they are, where they are and what they do. Vampires forget they are vampires and try to go outside, people forget that loved ones have passed and in the confusion violence breaks out.
I liked how this was done, everyone's memories seem to reset to about 3 years ago and this gives us a small insight into their pasts, it gives us some back story and really lets us see how the characters have changed over that time.
It certainly made for an exciting storyline, and I kept trying to guess who would be the next to lose their memories. I love Rachel Caine's quick wit and sarcasm, and the power she can create - when Amelie talks and commands you can almost feel her power radiate through the pages.
I know I've said it before but this series just keeps getting better.
